CFA hosted a design show on March 2nd at the Vista Room on the Maryland State Fairgrounds. The program featured Corey Lonsert sponsored by Smithers Oasis. Corey demonstrated uses of some of Oasis' new products for the retail florist. He featured the aluminum colored wire in several weights and a host of bright colors. The extra color and "professional" uses were a great hit. The colored foam was used in many ways. He cut blocks and threaded it on the wire to give geometric intrest to arrangements, filled a clear glass cube with the colored foam to give color and stability to a shape that we usually only use with stems showing. The new satin wraps for clutch bouquets were a nice add on with the new patterns now being featured. Corey shared many easy to use ideas that will help with any bottom line and make us work smarter rather than harder.
Friday after the show on Thursday night we moved the designs to the horticultural building at the Home and Garden show. CFA had a booth about "Hometownflorists".com and provided information to the consumer about buying from their local "Hometownflorists". Members manned the booth all weekend passing out magnets and literature while talking about the designs brought over from the show on Thursday night. This is one of the ways to reach the consumer that CFA is working so hard to keep business in your local shop. Join us for future meetings and shows.
